Three species of Caribbean coral are hardy enough to survive the rising levels of ocean acidification expected to take place over the next century. Whilst the corals were able to live in the unusually hostile environment, their skeletons were seriously affected, leaving them vulnerable to erosion.

Martian clouds may be born of shredded meteorites

Martian clouds could have an alien origin, according to a newly-published paper. The study suggests that mid-level clouds form above the Red Planet due to a phenomenon called "meteor smoke," which occurs when space debris is shredded upon entering the Martian atmosphere.
