The Belt Scooter by designer Ádám Török is a concept for a simple mode of transport you can wear around your waist. Thus making it much less likely you'll get stuck at a house party without any way of getting home.

The Belt Scooter is an operational scooter that you literally wear as a belt, though it's ability to hold your pants up is questionable. It comprises a curved piece of wood that's strong enough to take a person's weight, but light enough to be worn around the waist, and vertical handlebars divided into segments which means they remain flexible until the strap inside is tightened, at which point the whole thing become rigid.

As a mode of transport it offers some obvious advantages over other alternatives. It's sturdy and, thanks to being worn around your waist when not in use, takes up less space and is less prone to getting stolen than a bicycle.

The Belt Scooter is a fantastic idea that would provide a simple method of transport when you find yourself in a bind. Similar scooters which don't double up as belts are extremely affordable, and with no special materials or manufacturing required, there is no reason the Belt Scooter would be any more expensive. That is, at least, if it was to be available to buy, which it sadly isn't. Yet. Kickstarter, anyone?

Hope you have a path paved with smooth tile all the way to your house...cause those tiny plastic wheels will pass along every single bump in the asphalt.
As a city or school scooter it's okay, but definitely has limited practicality.

Wear one of these and you won't get invited to any parties.

It's a scooter! It's a belt! It's a scooter AND a belt! Decades ago, I wondered, "Why doesn't James Bond use boots with flip-down wheels to turn them into rollerskates when he's being chased?" I guess he was waiting for this. My soulmates at Everyday Carry Forums (http://edcforums.com) will go gaga for this.

oh good grief why do you need to WEAR it? why not just carry it?
at 'the party' you would surely take it off anyway
also i question the speed and range (since they don;t mention it)
surely it is not any faster than walking, with a range of about 2 miles 2 bumpy unsafe miles at that..

Great! Another opportunity for touristniks to look obvious & silliy with fanny pack extenders, flip up sunglasses, garish touristniks clothing and now doing bad wheelies at some country's sites! Maybe it is time for The Griswolds to meet the Fokker grandparents? On the other hand, this could give NYC taxi drivers a new pedestrian target training challenge? Could be fun.
