January 2, 2009 First International Computer's CW001 netbook is destined for US shores after arriving in the FCC database on the 31st of December last year. The 10.4-inch, Atom-based netbook is noteworthy for finding room for both a DVD-RW optical drive and an ExpressCard/34 slot - which appears to be a first for this form factor.
While those two features are a worthy differentiation from the countless other netbooks on the market, the other specifications are about the same as any other netbook:
- Intel Atom CPU (1.6 GHz)
- Intel GMA 945 graphics
- Up to 2GB RAM
- 10.1-inch display (1024x600)
- 802.11b/g wireless
- Bluetooth
- 1.3 megapixel webcam
- ExpressCard/34 slot
- VGA output
- Two USB 2.0 ports
- 4 in 1 card reader (SD, MMC, Memory Stick/Pro)
- CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-RW optical drive
