The more we hear about the health risks involved with sitting too much, the more popular standing desks become. Such desks can be expensive, though, and do you really want to replace your existing desk with one? The StorkStand offers a clever alternative. It's a mini standing desk that attaches to the back of your office chair.
The StorkStand is big enough to accommodate a laptop and smartphone, it can reportedly support up to 50 lb (23 kg), and it folds down flat for transport. It attaches to the chair's backrest using a strap, and its angle can be adjusted as needed. To adjust its height, you simply raise or lower the pedestal of the chair.
Unlike other standing desks, it can also easily be wheeled or pivoted around the office.
The StorkStand was created by San Francisco-based inventor Mike Goldberg, who is currently raising production funds on Kickstarter. A pledge of US$149 will get you one, assuming assuming the crowdfunding campaign goes to plan.
You can see a demo of the device in the pitch video below.
