A super-crossover, off-road supercoupe, super-sport utility vehicle ... whatever you want to call it, the Audi Nanuk Quattro Concept brings us one step closer. This 544-hp concept made its debut at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Toyota has provided the details of the powertrain that underpins its new Yaris Hybrid-R Concept. The Frankfurt-bound concept uses an advanced, four-wheel-drive hybrid system that stores energy in a super capacitor.

BMW has created a plug-in hybrid concept out of its X5 crossover. The Concept X5 eDrive combines a four-cylinder engine and 95-hp electric motor for 19 miles of all-electric driving and a BMW-estimated US fuel economy of 62 mpg.

Mercedes is adding a new hybrid to its line-up with the S 500 Plug-In Hybrid that features a powerful battery pack providing up to 19 miles (30 km) of pure electric driving while maintaining the performance and feel of a true S-Class.
