AVL had a pretty good day earlier this month, when it confirmed its prototype 2.0-liter turbo hydrogen race engine could generate over 200 hp-per-liter. AVL uses a water-injection system alongside its turbo to moderate combustion for more power.

Controlled Power Technologies' (CPT) new 48 volt electric supercharger spins up to 70,000 rpm within a third of a second, using 7kW of electrical power to deliver (an extra) six to ten times that power at the crankshaft.
