Sony announced a new addition to it RX camera line at IFA 2017 in Berlin earlier today. The 15 MP RX0 sports a wide-angle Zeiss lens, rugged compact body and sits somewhere between an actioncam and a tough compact, with Sony reckoning that this is the shape of cameras to come.

Although GoPro may have already announced its intention to do so, Garmin has beaten it to the punch by releasing a 360-degree spherical actioncam of its own. Called the VIRB 360, it shoots footage at a resolution of 5.7K/30fps, automatically stitching it together into a 4K/30fps interactive video.

Sony’s latest action cameras are aimed at cutting the wobbles from your extreme footage with new image stabilization technology. The 4K-shooting X3000 and the Full HD AS300 each use Sony’s Balanced Optical SteadyShot, which moves the camera's lens and sensor together to compensate for camera shake.

Zoom North America has revealed a new addition to its HD videocam range at this year's NAMM Show in California. As well as being capable of recording video at higher-than-HD resolution, the Q8 also boasts the modular microphone capsule system first seen in the H6 audio recorder.

A couple of years ago, we first heard about the SoloShot. It's a robotic device that sits between a video camera and a tripod, automatically panning the camera to keep the subject centered in the shot. The SoloShot2 takes things a step further, most notably by also tilting the camera.
