Tusk-free ivory substitute can be 3D printed into complex shapes

The ivory trade has been banned for over 30 years now, which means that technicians restoring ivory artifacts have to get creative in finding alternative materials. A new 3D-printable substance known as Digory appears to fit the bill nicely.

Thailand's Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort recently installed two Bubble Hotels that let visitors sleep among jungle wildlife, including elephants. The transparent inflatable shelters include a bathroom and air-conditioning.

Many wild elephants already wear GPS-equipped collars, which let wildlife officials track their whereabouts. An upgrade to those collars, however, could soon allow those officials to instantly know when poachers are shooting at the elephants.
