Equipmake announces the world's most power-dense electric motor

British company Equipmake has used 3D printing to radically boost power-to-weight figures for its electric motors. The new Ampere motor weighs less than 10 kg (22 lb) and makes a whopping 220 kW (295 hp) while spinning at up to 30,000 rpm.

Equipmake's spoke motor significantly boosts torque and sustained power output while being smaller, lighter and cheaper to manufacture than an equivalent standard IPM motor

British company Equipmake, best known for designing Formula 1 KERS systems for Williams, has turned its hand to electric motors and blasted out of the gate with a spoked motor design it claims is lighter, more powerful, easier to cool and cheaper to manufacture than standard electric motors.
