Most so-called portable air conditioners stretch the definition of "portable," but the Evapolar isn't one of them. In a form factor about the same size and weight as a small toaster, the unit packs an evaporative cooling system​ to cool, humidify and purify the air.

Dyson, a company best known for its line of high-end vacuum cleaners, has just announced a new humidifier that's designed to kill bacteria in the air using what it calls "Ultraviolet Cleanse" technology.

Humidifiers generally require the user to judge the amount of humidity needed to keep the dryness out of the air in their current surroundings, but roolen is aiming to change that with the introduction of its Breath model, which automatically optimizes moisture for a room.
