Even before the addition of touchpads, remote controls were pushing the boundaries in terms of size. Philips’ remote control division has come up with a way to keep the size of touch-capable remotes down by making the buttons the touch sensitive surface.

Researchers at BBC Research & Development are testing a prototype subtitle positioning system that uses gaze-tracking technology and frees subtitles from the shackles that have traditionally kept them at the bottom of the screen.
