Times are weird, and I guess weird times call for weird measures. At least, as per Honda, which thinks it's about time electric motorcycles replicated the old-school feel of gas bikes.

There probably isn’t any other bikemaker in the world that’s more synonymous with scooters than Kymco. The company has now launched its ninth model in the US – which is billed as a middleweight grand tourer.

Here I am, talking about a scooter that is more powerful than most motorcycles that some people will ever own. And it doesn’t even come from the likes of Honda, Yamaha, or any other usual suspects. Rather, it comes from Kymco from Taiwan.

Kymco's AK 550i range has come far since its release in 2017. What was then, in essence, bold proof of the brand's technology and design has now come of age as a proper maxi scooter that boasts the ability to go long-distance touring... for $12,199.

Harley-Davidson's all-electric LiveWire division is collaborating with Taiwanese scooter giant KYMCO on high-performance electric maxi-scooters. Anticipated to hit the market in 2026, these scooters will make use of LiveWire’s S2 Arrow powertrain.

​Kymco is probably best known for its scooters, most gas-powered but more recently running on an electric powertrain. Now the Taiwan company is breaking into the emerging electric motorcycle market with the impressive SuperNEX electric supersport.​
