VW showed its UP! Lite concept at the LA Auto Show this week. The four-seater uses a hybrid electric turbo diesel powertrain, delivers 115.7 mpg and does 100 mph. Its central display is controlled by touch screen and hand movement sensors.

VW rocked the first day of the Frankfurt Motor Show with a carbon fibre, half width, 1-litre hybrid electric diesel tandem named the L1. When it goes into production in 2013, it will have a consumption of 1.38 l/100 km.
