OnStar

General Motors and Honda have announced a new collaboration, building on previous joint efforts, in which they will develop two new Honda electric vehicles. The EVs will use GM's Ultium batteries, and will be built by GM for Honda sales.

Chevrolet has created the OnStar Proactive Alert system, which senses if something isn't quite right under the hood and prompts drivers to get their vehicle serviced before more expensive or ill-timed breakdowns occur.

While you may or may not be a fan of GM vehicles, the automaker's OnStar service certainly looks like it could be useful at times. Well, consumers with other makes of cars should soon be able to take advantage of a similar setup, when the just-announced Verizon Vehicle system launches.

Thanks to a new partnership between GM and RelayRides, owners of OnStar-equipped cars can now rent their vehicles out to make extra money.

In the future, OnStar will offer third-party apps and 4G-equipped vehicle systems.
