Audi Quattro

The last Audi RS 5 was fearsomely fast, but never managed to engage or excite like the BMW M4 and AMG C63, preferring straight lines to sinewy mountain passes. The fresh RS 5 is designed to appeal to the more laid back driver with a new, more clearly defined focus on grand touring.

Although they're perfectly legal in Europe, a law from 1968 means laser lights can't be fitted to American cars without being heavily modified. The R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition is the first Audi to sport US-friendly laser headlamps, packed in with a list of upgrades to the standard R8 package.

Amid the electric launches at the Paris Motor Show, there was still room for a few old-fashioned petrol-powered sports cars. Audi used the Mondial l'Automobile to launch a new RS3 sedan, which eschews a trendy downsized four-cylinder engine for a raucous five-cylinder, and the race-ready RS3 LMS.

​It might be difficult to tell from a distance, but you're looking at the brand-new Audi Q5. With a stronger, lighter body and a new set of efficient powertrains, it aims to take the luxurious feeling from the Q7 and scales it down for families who don't need seven seats and a gargantuan boot. ​

The new Audi A4 is light, economical and practical, but that won't be enough for some people. Enter the A5 Coupe, which drops the back doors and cranks up the style on Audi's midsize stalwart. There's no doubting it's a handsome car, but there's more to this coupe than a pretty face.

In a world dominated by downsized, four-cylinder engines, Audi has staunchly stood by its five-cylinder turbo. The new TT RS joins the RS3 in offering the unique motor, but ramps up the power and torque for a supercar-scaring sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph).

Audi has brought its midsize hatch up to date with downsized engines, a suite of active safety features and bright new LED Matrix lights.

We took a quick look at the all-new second-generation Audi R8 in our Geneva Motor Show exotic car photo gallery, but the new supercar is definitely worth a deeper dive. That's because beyond the basic styling and engineering refresh, there's an all-new R8 model: the 455-hp (340-kW) e-tron.

At this week's Beijing Motor Show, Audi transformed its TT into an off-road-ready, AWD crossover based closely on the Allroad Shooting Brake concept. Audi hasn't announced any plans for a production car based on the TT offroad concept, but it's certainly hinting at the possibility.

The premium Audi A1 sub-compact is best known for its frugality, respect for the environment and safety. Now Audi has replaced the 86 PS TFSI petrol engine with 503PS 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder TFSI engine - that's six times the power.

Until now Audi has pretty much limited hybrid technology to its concept cars but that is set to change with the upcoming Q5 hybrid quattro – the company’s first hybrid model with two drive systems.
