Last June, a creation known as hitchBOT successfully hitch-hiked its way across Canada. It has since also traversed Germany. This July, its team decided to see how it would make out in the US. Well, it lasted just over two weeks, until it was found destroyed in Philadelphia late last week.

"hitchBOT," a robot equipped with artificial intelligence, the power of speech, and the ability to converse with people whilst taking photos and tweeting, hopes to be the first robot to hitchhike across Canada this July.

Two undergraduate students from Toronto's Ryerson University have created a prosthetic arm that is controlled by its wearer's brain signals, and powered by compressed air.
