This week saw the release of Alienware's first Steam Machine, making parent company Dell the first of the major computer manufacturers to enter the market. How do the current range of Steam Machines stack up against consoles, and each other?

Last week, Valve shipped Steam Machine prototypes to 300 beta testers and made the first release of the open-source operating system that will power it, SteamOS, available for download.
