More than a decade before Enzo Ferrari started making cars under his own name, he ran his own race team and during the 1930s became the pseudo Alfa Romeo works team. This car is a 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3, one of just seven built, the first single seater in Grand Prix racing, briefly dominant in its time, and the first to appear at auction for a decade. This model was effectively an Aston Martin "works replica" production racer. Driving these lightweight gems, the Aston Martin factory team did very well against open competition in the 1934 Ulster TT, placing 3rd, 6th, and 7th. Aston Martin then offered identical cars to amateur racers for just £750. They were so tough that of the 31 made, 28 still exist, a statistical anomaly that speaks volumes for the craftsmanship and design of the vehicle.

Expected to fetch between €4,600.000 and €5,500,000 the first 917 Can Am Spyder and prototype 917/10 Spyder went to auction fastidiously documented, running the factory test and development chassis with the serial number #001 and was the first of only thirteen 917/10 chassis constructed. Reserve was not met. The image above shows the heart of the 1970 Porsche 917/10 Prototype – a five-liter DOHC air-cooled horizontally-opposed 12-cylinder engine that produces more than 600 horsepower. Gorgeous.

The Daytona Spider has evolved into one of Maranello’s most celebrated models, forever remembered as the company’s final vintage grand touring spider. The Spider was also produced in small quantities, with just 121 examples built until the model was discontinued in 1973. Porsche has always been amenable to creating special road cars for its favoured clients; such orders were normally directed to the Porsche Exclusive Department, formerly known as the Special Wishes office. There, for an often-considerable price, would be crafted automobiles that fell outside what might be considered normal production parameters; in other words, these were ‘bespoke’ automobiles with hand-selected features. This 1995 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet is one of just 14 special-order 993 Turbo Cabriolets produced by Porsche Exclusive and has had just two owners and covered just 18,000 kilometres from new.

This 1954 OSCA MT4 1500 was expected to sell in the €975,000 to €1,175,000 range but failed to meet reserve. It is one of approximately 72 MT4-based examples built and a competitor in the 1954 Mille Miglia and the 1954 Carrera Panamericana, driven by the legendary Marquis Alfonso de Portago. Incredible provenance, formerly part of the Rosso Bianco Collection, and eligible for the finest vintage driving events worldwide.

This 2012 Aston Martin V12 Zagato is one of a kind, with personal input from Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman. This "number zero" of 65 V-12 Zagatos built and part of a very rare special edition collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato. Unique, unrepeatable elements, including handcrafted badge and Zagato-etched key. It sold for sold for €750,400.

This 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta 750G Spider Competizione is one of only 24 such cars constructed, and one of only four thought to survive and documented by Alfa Romeo Expert Vito Witting da Prato as the most correct of all 750G Spiders. It has just been the subject of a five-year restoration by mark specialists Strada e Corsa of Haarlem, Netherlands.

This particular SLS AMG was delivered new in 2014 to its current owner thanks to a special relationship with Mercedes-Benz, and it has remained with him ever since. Finished in Solar Beam Yellow over a black interior, it was delivered new to France and regularly serviced by Mercedes-Benz of Lyon. It has travelled just 9,350 kilometres from new, and as a result, it remains in exceptional condition throughout.

This 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR racing machine is one of two RSR examples with the powerful 455 hp 4-liter M97 engine. Completing assembly on April 20, 2010, this RSR was finished in white paint and sold to the semi-works race team of BMS Scuderia Italia. It won the 2010 24 Hours of Spa and finished third in class at the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Presented in its original color scheme, with its well-preserved red leatherette upholstery, this 1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2 GS is in unusually good condition for the model. One of the most distinctive features of 356 Carrera is the engine, which, like the 550 Spyder, was developed from competition versions. It was designed with two overhead cams per bank and twin ignition, which allowed a significant increase in power.  This is one of the rarest, most iconic, powerful and highly sought after models in the 356 family, of which under 500 examples were produced. Okay, I must confess I like two-strokes. What they lack in aural refinement, they make up for in performance. Even given my weakness for two-strokes, this bike still appears a bargain. Suzuki's Gamma roadster was based on its World Championship-winning RG500 racer, and it is the nearest road bike to one of the fearsome Grand Prix 500 two-strokes. This one is closer again, because it is an ex-Team Gallina machine campaigned by Pierfrancesco Chili in Formula 1 during 1986. It has many parts taken from the factory Suzuki RG500 Grand Prix bikes, including magnesium crankcases, a dry clutch, Kokusan GP ignition system, Mikuni TMX 36mm carburettors, Tecnomagnesio wheels, braced swingarm, special exhaust system, Forcelle Italia fork, and more. Out of six starts in 1986, Chili scored five wins. A fantastic buy for someone. | Auction description

This 1974 Ducati 750SS racer that was commissioned from the factory by a father for his son's 18th birthday, and was delivered in racing specification together with an optional (separate) NCR kit. Not much is known about the intervening years, but the bike has been extensively rebuilt and returned to as-new condition and is a perfect specimen of the Ducati F750 bike that got the v-twin legend underway. The road bikes that were replicas of this bike now fetch more than the estimate, and this isn't a replica – it's one of the few genuine articles. Living proof that you can get a very important motorcycle with a provenance of pure gravitas for not very much. As you might have guessed from the image, this bike was owned by well-known fashion photographer Mathieu César who was the vendor at this sale. More importantly, it's a genuine NSU Sportmaxjust like the bike Hermann-Paul Müller used to win the World Championship in 1955. Other NSU Sportmax riders of note include John Surtees, Sammy Miller and Mike Hailwood were also among the riders and this bike is the one formerly owned by Surtees who went on to win world titles in both Motorcycle and Car Grand Prix racing. He's the only one to have won both. And this was his bike. Estimated at between €30,000 and €60 000, it sold for just €27,416 which is a steal by any standards. Pure gold. There was quite a bit of speculation on the price this bike would fetch as it is quite rare, being a 1958 Jawa La Boheme Cezeta. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and i do appreciate the Bohemian styling of the then radical post-war transportation, but I still think it looks like a pig. The engine is a 175cc two-stroke and the front half of this motorcycle served on several other conveyances. | Auction description

€2,960,400 | 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa par Scaglietti

This 166 Spyder Corsa was just the seventh competition-client Ferrari to be built. Delivered new with an Ansaloni body on a long wheelbase chassis, the car was raced by leading drivers of the day, including Giuseppe Farina, Giampiero Bianchetti and Raymond Sommer, and won outright at Reims in 1948. In 1949, its chassis was shortened and engine re-bored to 2.3 liters, making it more competitive. It continued to shine on the race track until 1956 when it was given a splendid new body, styled by Scaglietti, that prefigured the design of the iconic 500 TR and 750 Monza. This is an important part of Ferrari's early history, still fitted with its original engine, and is eligible for all prestigious historic motor racing events.

This 1974 Ducati 750SS racer that was commissioned from the factory by a father for his son's 18th birthday, and was delivered in racing specification together with an optional (separate) NCR kit. Not much is known about the intervening years, but the bike has been extensively rebuilt and returned to as-new condition and is a perfect specimen of the Ducati F750 bike that got the v-twin legend underway. The road bikes that were replicas of this bike now fetch more than the estimate, and this isn't a replica – it's one of the few genuine articles. The Zündapp KS 750 was developed for German WW2 military purposes and more than two thirds of the components are interchangeable with the BMW R75. This bike was one of the very first made in September 1942, having been found in Tunisia and restored in Germany. Living proof that you can get a very important motorcycle with a provenance of pure gravitas for not very much. As you might have guessed from the image, this bike was owned by well-known fashion photographer Mathieu César who was the vendor at this sale. More importantly, it's a genuine NSU Sportmaxjust like the bike Hermann-Paul Müller used to win the World Championship in 1955. Other NSU Sportmax riders of note include John Surtees, Sammy Miller and Mike Hailwood were also among the riders and this bike is the one formerly owned by Surtees who went on to win world titles in both Motorcycle and Car Grand Prix racing. He's the only one to have won both. And this was his bike. Estimated at between €30,000 and €60 000, it sold for just €27,416 which is a steal by any standards. Pure gold. There was quite a bit of speculation on the price this bike would fetch as it is quite rare, being a 1958 Jawa La Boheme Cezeta. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and i do appreciate the Bohemian styling of the then radical post-war transportation, but I still think it looks like a pig. The engine is a 175cc two-stroke and the front half of this motorcycle served on several other conveyances. | Auction description

Y'all should have put a voting button by these! My favorite would be the Lancia. Brings back memories of awe and wonder watching them compete in the East African Safari Rally back in the day and convinced they were the most fantastic conveyance ever conceived! ☺
