Acer has announced a new high-end panel at the IFA show in Berlin. With high-end specs like a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and 10-point multitouch, the company is clearly has its eye on the cream of the display crop with the T272HUL.
The most striking thing about the new display isn't its undeniably sharp WQHD LED backlit panel, but its unusual design, which features an asymmetric stand and clear glass panel at the base. The monitor features a built-in full HD webcam and microphone, and can be tilted at up to a 60-degree angle, making it easier to make use of the 10-point touch functionality.
The device's resolution is backed up by 178-degree viewing angles, a 300 nit brightness, 5 ms response time and an impressive 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Acer has also included its Adaptive Contrast-Management (SCM) technology which adjusts contrast levels on a frame-by-frame basis.
On the back of the display you'll find a dual-link DVI, DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4, as well as three USB 3.0 ports. For audio, Acer has gone with a pair of 2-watt speakers.
The obvious point of comparison here is Apple's ubiquitously popular Cinema Displays. The 27-inch model of Cupertino's high-end panel, which retails for US$999, matches the resolution of Acer's new product, but falls short on contrast, and features older generation USB 2.0 ports. That said, it's likely that Apple will be updating its displays in the near future.
The T272HUL is scheduled for release between 6-11 September this year with a suggested price of €799 in Europe and $999 in the US.

If you stand and mount this on a wall and attach it to a little computer, your arm will hurt like hell very soon, along with your eyes and back
If you use it in a lying down table form, u have to stand again, and u wont be able to do any long duration typing work
What's the point Sir ?
Asus 4K monitor costs $4K, four times the cost of this monitor and no 4K material availible or PC powerful enough to use it.
Why would it hurt your eyesight. Turn down the brightness.
If you want a mount, use a flexible one that allows adjustment.
Use it an angle for touch screen. It adjusts to 60 degrees.
