Blue Microphones has followed the release of its Tiki USB microphone with the second of its CES 2012 power trio, the Mikey Digital for iPhone/iPad. The plug-and-play stereo microphone works with most popular recording apps for professional recordings on-the-go.
Once plugged into the port of an iPod touch (4th generation), iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad 2 or iPad, Mikey Digital can be rotated 230 degrees for optimal positioning of its two premium condenser capsules (the same ones that are found in the Blue's Snowball and Yeti USB microphones). The stereo microphone uses a built-in mic preamp and a CD-quality A/D converter to record 44.1 kHz/16-bit audio for video, voice or music through either its own capsules or direct connection to instruments and other sound sources via the multi-source 3.5 mm input jack.
The Mikey Digital can either auto adjust to fluctuating volume levels or users can take manual control of the built-in sensitivity control. An LED clipping indicator flashes whenever volume levels are producing distortion to help rein in recording levels. There's also a handy USB pass-through connection for charging the iDevice while in-use.
The Mikey Digital comes supplied with a soft carrying pouch and is available from today for a suggested retail price of US$99.99.
