Fujifilm has been at the center of the rumor mill for the past couple of weeks, after the company teased a new camera on its X system website. The now-fully-disclosed 16 MP X-T1 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera boasts over 75 weather seals and can cope with temperatures as low as -14° F (-25.6° C). It benefits from fast autofocus, high sensitivity and strong continuous shooting performance, and also sports an OLED electronic viewfinder with the world's highest magnification for a digital camera and shortest display lag.

The Fujifilm X-T1 has the same 16.3 Megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor as the company's X-E2 camera. This works with the EXR Processor II engine to deliver a nippy AF speed of just 0.08 seconds, shutter lag of 0.05 seconds, a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds and a sensitivity that tops out at ISO51200 for powerful low light performance. The camera is ready to shoot from cold in about half a second, and is capable of up to 8 frames per second continuous shooting with tracking autofocus.

For those who like to adjust and control, the X-T1 has got you covered. There are five, count them, five mechanical dials to the top, including two machined aluminum double-deckers for controlling shutter speed/metering and ISO/drive. The camera also gets a command dial to the front and one at the back, and six customizable function buttons. Built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi caters for wireless image transfer to smart devices and remote shooting via the Camera Remote app.

As well as a 3-inch, 1.04 million dot tilting LCD display made of tempered glass, users are treated to a 2.36 million dot OLED viewfinder that's said to deliver almost real-time image previews (the display lag is reported to be a mere 0.005 seconds), and 0.77x magnification. A new GUI has been included with four display modes, including a split view showing a standard view and the manual focus area in one window.

The X-T1 is capable of recording 1080p video at 30 or 60 frames per second, and is compatible with SDXC UHS-II memory cards.

It's scheduled for release next month for a body-only price of US$1,299.95, or with a XF18mm-55mm (27-84mm) F2.8-4 kit lens for $1,699.95. Fujifilm is also complementing the camera's release with a vertical battery grip and three new, weather-resistant zoom lenses.
