Following on from the update to its mid-range Optimus L Series phones, LG has revealed a brand new line of smartphones dubbed the "Optimus F Series." The company is focusing on providing 4G LTE support along with higher processing power with the two new devices, both of which run on the Android 4.1.2 OS.

The Optimus F7 is the flagship of the series, featuring a 4.7-inch True HD IPS (312 ppi) display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 2,540mAh battery, and 2GB of internal RAM. The slightly less impressive Optimus F5 will include a 4.3-inch IPS (256 ppi) screen, 1.2 GHz Dual-Core processor, 2,150mAh capacity battery, and 1GB of RAM.

Aside from 4G LTE support, both phones will run on Android 4.1.2 and offer 8GB of storage memory, which can be upgraded to 32GB through a microSD slot. Each phone will also come with LG's suite of software, which includes apps for handwriting memos, personalizing hotkeys, setting emergency call options, and translating text by scanning it with the camera. LG has also incorporated QSlide, which lets users open two apps side-by-side, and Live Zooming, allowing users to zoom in on videos as they're playing.

LG hopes the new series will raise its presence in the LTE market and plans to release the Optimus F5 in Europe later this year, with the F7 coming soon after. The company has yet to reveal any specific dates or prices.
