Tablets are the must-have gadget of the moment, but one drawback to using a touchscreen device for any length of time is the need to support it in a comfortable position. MobileMount+ helps with this, by mounting not just tablets, but indeed almost any similar device onto a flat surface safely.

MobileMount+ features dual twist-to-lock suction cups, one of which attaches to the tablet or smartphone, while the other is affixed onto the desired surface. Additionally, a ball joint allows the angle of the device to be adjusted.

If that all sounds familiar, it may be because we previously reported on the device’s predecessor, the very similar MobileMount, back in October of last year. So, what’s changed in a year to warrant a new product launch and the addition of a plus sign?

Well, while the original MobileMount sported the same two suction cups and ball joint, this latest iteration also features support for camera tripods and other camera mounting accessories, thus allowing owners of Android, iOS and other devices to shoot video and take photos.

In order to make use of this new functionality, the user simply unscrews the relevant ball joint to afford access to a threaded ball joint, which should be suitable to secure your device onto the majority of camera mounting accessories.

MobileMount+ creator J.R. Sanchez has turned to Kickstarter to bring the product to market, and units are available for a minimum pledge of US$35. The MobileMount+ is expected to begin shipping in Spring (Northern Hemisphere), 2013.

The video below sheds a little more light on the product.

This type of mount is my favorite feature of my TomTom GPS. However, the suction cup requires a relatively flat and smooth surface. My iPhone has a case which is neither. Still, this might work for some people.

$35.00 OMG 90% of devices on Ebay are 1/2 this price. Nice item but way to expensive and bulky.

Take an ordinary desktop hole punch; you know, the one for punching two holes in paper to fit in a ring binder. Put the hooky side of some stick on Velcro on the handle and stick some of the fuzzy side of the Velcro on your device. OK, now you have the best mobile device holder ever... for just two dollars. Put some more Velcro on the dash of your car and some more on the refrigerator: now you have GPS, Google or Skype right where you want it, almost for free.
