March 28, 2008 Available this April, Plustek’s new range of OpticFilm professional-grade scanners convert slides into high quality, 48-bit color digital images at a whopping 7200x7200 dpi resolution.

The high-speed USB 2.0 powered devices can generate an uncompressed picture file that is 800 MB or larger – roughly equal to a 75-megapixel resolution digital camera. The models include a new four-scan multi-sampling and multi-exposure engine, which replicates every nuance of a slide image.

The 7500i models incorporate SilverFast’s Infrared Smart Removal of Defects technology, which scans images in an additional infrared channel to remove blemishes on the surface of the film, including grime and scratches. The 7500i Al also includes the 35mm IT8 calibration.

The Plustek OpticFilm 7300 will retail for USD$289, the OpticFilm 7500i SE costs $399 and the top of the line OpticFilm 7500i AI is listed at $589.
