If you have noticed that tots are getting acquainted with digital technology increasingly early, wait until they get hold of a tablet designed specifically for them. Polaroid has expanded its tablet portfolio with Kids Tablet, a new addition to this expanding market that includes MEEP!, Tabeo and LeapPad.

Running on Android 4.0 and packing 8 GB of storage, a 1GHz chip and 512MB of RAM, the round-cornered 7” tablet has a 800 x 480-pixel multi-touch display and comes with built-in parental controls and a safe web browser developed by Maxthon.

Kids Tablet comes preloaded with a list of Dr Seuss and Smithsonian children’s books, as well as NOOK for Android from Barnes and Noble. When reading interactive books, there are three function options available, including "Read to me," "Read it myself" and "Auto-play."

There are 35 pre-loaded apps in all including Music Studio and Draw. There’s also a Kids Video app that pulls videos off of YouTube based on the age of the users.

Kids Tablet also features a 2 MP Kids Camera, USB port, WiFi, an SD card slot for extended memory, a digital accelerometer, built-in speaker, headphone jack and microphone. A display lock prevents kids from pushing tablet displays and buttons by accident and the design also includes rear rubber bumpers to protect it from falls and knocks.

Kids Tablet costs US$149.99.

Kids who have seen a regular android tablet would reject this as a dumb down version.
