Mercedes-AMG released full details of its much-anticipated Project One today, ahead of a launch at this week's International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The €2.275 million (US$2.72 million) two-seater supersports show car will feature Formula One technology in every aspect, offering over 1,000 hp and a top speed beyond 350 km/h (217 mph) when the 275 units scheduled for production begin delivery during the second quarter of 2019.
Heralded by Tobias Moers of Mercedes-AMG as "the most ambitious project we have ever undertaken," the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE show car is a technological marvel, particularly the high-performance plug-in hybrid drive system.
The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE was driven onto the presentation stage by triple Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton who joined the head of Mercedes cars, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, for the full unveiling.

The team from Brackley brings world-class development expertise. The AMG team in Affalterbach transfers motorsport performance to the road. The objective is forward-looking technology, ultimate performance, the best laps times. And all of it road legal." said Zetsche.
Derived directly from Formula 1, the highly integrated and intelligently networked power unit comprises one turbocharged 1600cc internal combustion engine and four electric motors.
It consists of a highly integrated and intelligently networked unit comprising one hybrid, turbocharged combustion engine with a total of four electric motors.
A 90-kW motor has been integrated into the turbocharger, another 120-kW motor has been installed directly on the combustion engine with a link to the crankcase, and two quite special 120-kW high-speed electric motors on the front axle deliver power to the front wheels.The front wheel drive motors spin to a remarkable 50,000 rpm, well beyond the performance of current 20,000 rpm electric motors, and they'll provide enough power to drive the car in electric-only mode for 25 km (15.5 mi).
