2017 Monterey Car Week

Monterey Car Week is all about cars but the auctions have always tended to include an array of the best motorcycles. This year with the car market well down and many motorcycles sold with no reserve, bargains were plentiful.

Rumblings about the Mercedes-AMG Project One have been around for a while, but details about thie racer for the road have been hard to find. The Quail, part of the Monterey Car Week, was used to show the world what lies beneath the Project One's skin.

Monterey Car Week has finished and a host of memories have been consigned to history. We attended everything from the Concours de Lemons, Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, McCall's Motorworks Revival, The Quail and Tour d'Elegance through to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Infiniti's retro-modern racer was perhaps the most pleasant surprise amongst Pebble Beach debuts. One complaint: the initial debut left us absolutely starving for some driving footage. Thankfully, Infiniti didn't wait long to show some on-track action.

Each year in Monterey, the winners of the most prestigious concours of the previous year are gathered for a best-of-the-best shoot-out judged by the most revered names in the industry. This year a 1954 Maserati A6GCS Berlinetta won Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award.

The Bugatti Chiron debuted last year at the Geneva Motor Show. A year later, Bugatti delivered the very first examples in Europe and the Middle East. Now, the Chiron has officially made its way to the United States, a yellow-and-black model having been delivered to its owner this past weekend.

Ken Okuyama is currently one of the most exciting names in vehicle design, with a resume to make most vehicle designers green with envy. Having unveiled the Kode57 during Monterey Car Week last year, the talented designer has whipped the covers off a dramatic new creation – the Kode 0.

A year after BMW ended production of the Z4, a new Z4 has made its debut. The striking Concept Z4 Roadster wears some of the creased bodywork previewed on the Concept 8 Series, creating an open two-seater that begs for furious, bluff-hugging twists high above smashing waves.

The 2018 Acura RLX is meant to reflect the automotive brand’s new design direction through the company’s flagship sports sedan. The 2018 RLX will make its public debut at the upcoming Monterey Automotive Week in California on August 15-19. This is a complete redesign for the RLX sedan.

At this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Infiniti plans to walk the line between classic and modern, presenting a vintage race car with electric technology and modern design language. The prototype open-top racer will be joined by concept debuts from other luxury automakers.
