After years of bubbling online rumors, Sonos has finally revealed its first attempt to break into the overcrowded headphone market with the Ace wireless over-ears – which are clearly looking to dethrone the likes of Sony, Bose and Apple.

Rather than trail wires around the room for a home theater audio setup, Dolby's new technology pairs a big-screen television's own sound system with wireless speakers spread across the room – "transforming any seat into the best seat in the house."

Since being launched in 2012, Dolby Atmos technology has found its way into theaters, living rooms, mobile devices and more. And now the immersive 3D audio experience is driving into the automotive space in the upcoming Lucid Air electric sedan.

Dolby is a name that will be familiar to many people. Its sound technologies are pretty much ubiquitous and Dolby Surround has been entrancing people since the early 80s. Now, the company has announced that its Atmos surround sound technology is coming out of the cinema and into the home.

The name Dolby Laboratories has long been associated with innovative and world-leading sound reproduction. Its latest creation, Atmos, has come at the perfect time to augment the unprecedented immersive experience of big screen 3D stereoscopic images.
