The current Mustang introduced electronic line lock to drag racers, but that's no longer the only piece of tech Ford offers for a quicker run down the strip – now it's giving the Mustang Drag Strip mode.

Having announced the Expedition in Chicago, Ford has treated off-road enthusiasts to a tougher FX4 package. With better underbody protection and a proper rear differential, the Expedition FX4 should couple the efficiency of the standard car with the ability to handle difficult off-road trails.

Ford's EcoBoost engines return small-engine fuel efficiency with big-engine power outputs. Now, the smallest EcoBoost engine is getting smaller – albeit for brief periods of time – thanks to cylinder deactivation.

Thanks to Ford Performance, a Mustang update has arrived in the form of a power-boosting package for both the EcoBoost and GT V8. Along with increases in power, the packages bring a huge torque bump and flat shift capability to the table.

Ford has launched a new EcoBlue diesel engine promising a 13 percent improvement in fuel economy to go with its improved refinement and performance.

Even icons need to change and evolve with the times. For Ford, that meant turning to EcoBoost power and (finally) dropping the live rear end for a fully independent setup on its Mustang. But has it worked, and is it sacrilege to stick a Mustang badge on a turbocharged four-cylinder car?
