Frankfurt Motor Show 2015

  • The updated VR6 roadster was officially unveiled in Frankfurt, as Horex Motorcycles GmbH had announced in late June. Presented in a collectible Silver Edition, the German motorcycle with the patented six-cylinder VR6 engine marks the return of Horex after being saved from bankruptcy in early 2015.
  • BMW will unveil its new BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition this week. The Competition Package supes up the existing M6 Coupe. A 4.4-l V8 petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology produces 441 kW (600 hp), a maximum torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) and a top speed of 305 km/h (189.5 mph).
  • Lamborghini has ripped the top off its Huracán, turning it into a rival for the McLaren 650S Spyder and the Ferrari 488 GTB Spyder. It might not pack turbocharged power like its closest rivals, but the Huracán Spyder LP 610-4 still has a few tricks up its sleeve to help it stand out.
  • As promised earlier this year, Infiniti has premiered its Q30 active compact at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle is Infiniti's first entry into the premium compact segment and the carmaker has given it what it calls a "bold character and daring shape" based on the original 2013 concept.
  • The Audi e-tron quattro concept offers up a range of over 500 km (311 miles) from its 370 kW (496 hp) electric powertrain and wraps it all up in a sharply-styled suit that puts the new Q7 to shame.
  • Shape-shifting is one of the more radical approaches to improving aerodynamics, and Mercedes has taken this to another level with its Concept IAA, which changes shape at higher speeds to cut through the air more efficiently.
  • After a short teaser campaign, Honda has pulled the cloth off its wicked little Project 2&4. Honda's 2&4 employs an RC213V four-cylinder competition motorcycle engine in opening up the freedom of a motorcycle with the handling and stability of a car.
  • Honda will highlight the cargo space of its Civic Tourer estate at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Civic Tourer Active Life Concept is a true bicycle shuttle, accommodating two bicycles in back and keeping cyclists prepared with integrated equipment like a pump, bicycle repair arm and toolbox.
  • Volkswagen is celebrating the upcoming 40th anniversary of its Golf GTI with the all-new GTI Clubsport. With a power-cranking boost function, improved aerodynamics and a heritage design package, the Clubsport promises to be a potent, stylish little ride.
  • Purists, look away now – the new Porsche 911 Carrera that will make its debut at the Frankfurt International Auto Show will be turbo-only. Porsche has foregone natural aspiration in the classic rear-engined sports car in the quest for better performance and economy.
  • One of the issues with vans designed for hauling gear is that they leave precious little room for the most important cargo of all – people. The Opel Vivaro Surf Concept takes a different approach, hauling 141 cu ft (4 cu m) of cargo in back while still providing seating for five or six people.
  • Be it the new Mini Cooper, the Fiat 500 or any one of the muscle cars that America has fallen for, we love it when our cars give a nod to their heritage. A dip into the past is definitely evident in Citroen's Cactus M Concept.
