Back in 2015, Gogoro proposed setting up a network of battery-swapping stations for riders of its electric smartscooter. Now the company operates thousands of them, and has partnered with Enel X to have the network serve as virtual power plants.

Gogoro is likely best known for its colorful smart e-scooters and battery-swapping networks, but the mobility company is now adding an ebike called the Eeyo 1 to its product line up, which features an all-new digital drive called the Eeyo Smartwheel.

Taiwan's Gogoro today launched and new addition to its battery-swapping electric scooters – the Viva Smartscooter.

Mobility startup Gogoro has been making waves in Taiwan for a few years now with its smart electric scooters. It is now returning to its roots with a new scooter-sharing system for the city of Taoyuan, which will allow residents to hop aboard for a ride at the click of a button.

Taiwanese firm Gogoro is set to bring its electric two-wheelers to European streets, today announcing it will implement its battery-swapping Smartscooter network in Amsterdam in 2016 following a successful launch in Taipei earlier this year.

Startup Gogoro drew plenty of attention when it unveiled its battery-swapping Smartscooter network earlier this year, but when and were these were likely to be deployed wasn't entirely clear. The company has now announced a pilot program in Taiwan, ahead of a launch this coming summer.
