A lightweight exosuit, which features a “soft” fabric-based design, could help patients with lower limb disabilities regain mobility. The institute has partnered with ReWalk Robotics – the biggest name in powered exoskeletons - for the ambitious project.
The ReWalk exoskeleton is without doubt the best-known on the market, having been commercially available since 2012. This week, ReWalk Robotics announced the sixth version of the product, which is reportedly better-fitting, faster and less bulky than its predecessors.
The FDA has cleared the way for the ReWalk exoskeleton to be sold for personal use in the US, making it the first motorized exoskeleton designed for people with lower body paralysis due to spinal cord injury to be cleared for personal use in the US.
