A robotaxi, also called a robot taxi, self-driving taxi or driverless taxi, is an autonomous car (SAE automation level 4 or 5) operated for a ridesharing company. Some are retrofitted vehicles with the necessary systems to enable autonomous driving, while others are designed without a steering wheel or pedals specifically to operate autonomously.
