A little over a month after announcing the Coolpix B600 superzoom and the A1000 compact, Nikon has now released the full specs and confirmed US availability and pricing. The B600 features a 60x optical zoom lens, while the more pocket-friendly A1000 zooms out to 35x.

Panasonic has announced the addition of two new Lumix cameras, which are all about the zoom. The FZ1000 II marries a big sensor with 16x zoom capabilities, while the pocket-friendly ZS80 goes from 24 mm wide angle to 720 mm at the telephoto end.

​Canon has announced an upgrade to the now four year-old SX60 HS compact superzoom. Though the focal length remains unchanged, the image sensor and processor of the PowerShot SX70 HS have been updated, along with the electronic viewfinder and video recording capabilities.

​With a smartphone camera in just about every pocket, compact camera makers are having to rely on big zoom lenses and pixel-packed video prowess to convince consumers to buy dedicated snappers. Such is the case with Canon's upcoming PowerShot SX740 HS.

​Back in 2015, Nikon revealed a bridge camera boasting a whopping 83x optical zoom lens – the Coolpix P900. Now the company has announced a new flavor, the P1000, which (ahem) zooms past its predecessor's telephoto capabilities to bring far-flung objects into sharp focus with its 125x optics.​

One camera to rule them all, that’s the dream. One rig that can handle any situation, without needing to carry a bunch of heavy, expensive lenses around. That’s the idea behind Panasonic’s DC-FZ80, a superzoom camera with a built-in lens that offers a ludicrous 20-1200 zoom range.

Sony has announced a new addition to its growing range of superzoom cameras. The new Cyber-Shot HX350 is fitted with a Zeiss lens with 50x optical zoom, giving it the equivalent of a 24mm - 1200mm range.

Olympus has taken choice features from its OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds camera, the PEN Series and the XZ-2 compact and thrown them into a 12 MP premium compact superzoom called the Stylus 1.

Sony claims that its 20-megapixel Cyber-shot HX50V compact is the world's smallest and lightest 30x zoom camera currently available.
