The idea of living in a tiny house can seem pretty appealing, but the reality of day-to-day life in such a small space obviously isn't for everyone. Those looking to dip a toe into the small living movement and see if it's for them have a new option in the form of a new tiny house vacation village near Portland, Oregon.

Comprising five homes built by the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, the Tiny House Village is situated within the Mt. Hood RV Park, so includes access to existing on-site amenities such as a swimming pool and spa, billiards, game room, and hiking and biking trails.

The units are based on Tumbleweed's own range of tiny houses and vary in size from 175 – 260 sq ft (16.2 – 24.15 sq m). The smallest is dubbed Savannah and sleeps three, with an interior that includes bathroom with shower, a kitchen, ground floor bedroom and second loft sleeping area. The largest model, Scarlett, sleeps up to five people and also includes a ground floor bedroom, in addition to two loft sleeping areas, a bathroom and a kitchen.

The tiny houses range in size from 175 – 260 sq ft (16.2 – 24.15 sq m)

Each of the tiny houses looks finished to a high standard and is plugged into mains electricity, so boasts home comforts like a television, heating, and on-site Wi-Fi. The homes sit on wheels and are clad in cedar plank siding and painted in different colors.

The interiors of the homes are still under construction and Tumbleweed is currently busy putting the finishing touches to each in time for a May 27 opening date.

Those interested in a tiny vacation will need to shell out a minimum of US$129, per night for the smallest tiny house. This price rises up to a maximum price of $159 per night, depending on booking dates.

I think it is a neat idea. It allows people to try small before committing to it. If it is not their thing or find it too small, they won't have to sell it and go back to what they had before.

I wonder if they make these with expansion/extension capabilities? Especially for those moments when you have to entertain a few more guests than the normal size will hold.

I personally find the rental price, while competitive,2 B kinda high,I personally would buy a 14ft x 28ft tent and stay at a campground I mean a 10 day stay== $1200-$1600.00.....go camping ''Very small living'' have enough left over to buy 1/4 lb of pot and steak dinner for the same 10 days,....thats 12-16 hundred dollars for a space = to 2 prison cells,{80 sq.ft.ea} the tent gives you 392 sq.ft. The tiny houses are cute though and would be nice in the winter, butt Snow Camping,Is fun too ,for youngsters......LOL :-)
