Porsche has unveiled its newly updated Cayenne Turbo S, which is due for release in early 2013 and promises to be the company’s most powerful SUV yet. The 2013 Cayenne Turbo S boasts 550 hp (405 kW), allowing it to motor from 0 - 60 mph (96.5 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds, and reach a top speed of 175 mph (281 km/h).

The Turbo S sports several features as standard which are optional on the Cayenne Turbo, such as Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) – all of which go toward helping to make what Porsche promises to be the best-handling Cayenne thus far. It's also the fastest, reaching 60 mph (96.5 km/h) over a second quicker than the Cayenne GTS, which takes 5.7 seconds, and besting the previous model Turbo S by 0.1 second.

The exterior of the Turbo S has been given a nip-and-tuck, with front air intakes, 21-inch 911 Turbo II wheels, and dual twin-tube sport aluminum tailpipes serving to lend a suitably premium appearance to this decidedly top-tier vehicle. Inside, there’s a two-tone leather interior, which is offered in both “black and Carrera red,” and “black and Luxor beige” variants. The instrument panel, door and center console trim are all constructed from carbon fiber, and Porsche’s Sport Chrono package implements an analog and digital timer into the center dash.

The plush interior of the Turbo S is further tricked-out with a Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 7-inch touchscreen display, which offers fine control over various communication and information systems, including the navigation module, Bose Surround Sound System, and on-board computer. A 4.8-inch TFT screen is contained within the instrument cluster, which displays map data, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system, and the car’s lateral and longitudinal acceleration.

The Turbo S is powered by a 4.8 liter, twin-turbo V8 engine, which generates a maximum torque of 750 Nm, available between between 2,250 and 4,500 rpm. This is all held in check by an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission system, which features two gearshift paddles for high speed gear changes. The company hasn’t confirmed fuel consumption figures yet, but we’ll venture to guess that such trifling concerns aren’t enough to discourage prospective buyers from taking the plunge.
