EICMA 2014

It's silly season in Milan, with manufacturers jostling for the spotlight with a cavalcade of new bikes, model updates and wacky prototype concepts at the 2014 EICMA motorcycle expo. Here's our favorite new bike highlights from one of the biggest motorcycle shows on the global calendar.

Kawasaki's H2 is the much-awaited road-going version of the 300-horsepower H2R unveiled at Intermot. It won't have any more horsepower than the numerous race-bred bikes shown elsewhere at EICMA, but it will be the fastest accelerating motorcycle on the road.

Honda has released two new concept prototypes at EICMA 2014. The True Adventure is Honda’s vision of its next round-the-world Dakar-style adventure bike, and the RC213V-S is a road-going replica of the MotoGP bike Marc Marquez has just conquered the world with.

BMW's Multistrada-killer just launched at EICMA Milan and it looks like a beauty, featuring the psychotic 160-horsepower engine out of the S1000R in a light sports adventure package, and a slick set of electronics that includes lean angle sensitive ABS Pro, that makes braking in a corner much safer.

The new Panigale 1299 is a major makeover for the flagship Italian superbike, with a power boost up to 205 horses due to a bored-out, larger engine. It’s also about the smartest superbike we’ve ever seen, with a safety and rider assist suite that outguns both the R1 and BMW’s 2015 S1000RR.

Yamaha's totally redesigned 2015 YZF-R1 and R1M feature advanced six-axis motion detection, a 200-horsepower inline 4-cylinder motor and a full suite of electronic goodies as Team Blue strikes back at the superbike class with its "most MotoGP-inspired bike ever."
