The fun little Mazda MX-5 Miata receives a few upgrades for the 2019 model year. They start with more potency in the MX-5's little four-cylinder, upgrading horsepower output and providing a higher redline. Also added is the new Retractable Fastback model with its powered hardtop and sleeker look.

Mazda originally debuted the MX-5 Miata at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, so it's only fitting that the Japanese automaker has chosen to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that car by making the world premiere of the MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary in Chicago.

Weight loss was on the agenda for Mazda at SEMA 2015, with the Speedster and Spyder both shaving kilos from the MX-5 package, but the lightweight fascination didn't end there. SEMA 2016 will play host to a more stripped back, focused version of last year's Speedster alongside a charcoal MX-5 RF.

Mazda has added a limited edition Miata to the model options for its two-seat roadster. The Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro will be limited to 600 units and features exclusive sport styling enhancements.
