Collins Aerospace has come up with a new oxygen system for special forces soldiers making insanely high parachute jumps from up to 33,000 ft that automatically adjusts itself as they plummet at 126 mph for chute openings as low as 3,000 ft.

Red Bull's extreme stunts are legendary, and Plane Swap promises to be right up there with the greatest. Two pilots will jump out of their planes, leaving them pilotless and plummeting, and attempt to skydive across and save each other's aircraft.

For both skydivers and astronauts, a spin can be a fatal mistake, so engineering firm Draper is working on an anti-spin device to bring them automatically back to stability. Using a network of sensors and gyroscopes,the new system detects a dangerous rotation and generates a counter-torque.

Multicopters are growing more powerful by the day, and Latvian company Aerones specializes in creating industrial drones that can carry loads of up to 100 kg (220 lb). To demonstrate the lifting power of its drones, the company has used a custom unit to carry a skydiver aloft.

Alan Eustace, has broken the 128,100-ft (39,045-m) high-altitude skydive record set by Felix Baumgartner in October, 2012. Jumping from a balloon at 135,890 ft (41,419 m) above Roswell, New Mexico, Eustace also set new world records for vertical speed and freefall distance.

Felix Baumgartner and the Red Bull Stratos team have pulled off their historic high-altitude skydive.

Felix Baumgartner has successfully carried out a 96,640 foot parachute jump from the Red Bull Stratos balloon, landing safely after reaching Mach 0.8 during the descent.
