Test drive

  • The problem with spending a day driving £300,000+ worth of cars is that driving home in your own worn out old banger makes a measured article tricky to write. Such is my issue having spent last Friday with three of Mercedes' top-end AMGs. So apologies in advance for any gushing.
  • The new Kuga is Ford ’s latest foray into the medium SUV market and despite some stiff competition, it packs enough ammunition to make its presence felt – particularly in the driver assist technology department. We spent two weeks with the Kuga to discover how all this high-tech gadgetry plays out.
  • After a long incubation period, the first cars released under BMW's sustainability-focused "i" sub-brand – the i3 city car and i8 sportscar – have been hitting roads around the globe throughout 2014. We climbed aboard the i3 to find out how it performs.
  • The long-tailed classic that is Chevrolet’s Impala has gone through many iterations since it was introduced in the late 1950s – some good, some excessively bland. The redesigned 2015 Impala LTZ is in the former camp.
  • Following on from my time behind the wheel of a gorgeous F-type V8S roadster a few months back, I recently had the opportunity to drive the less powerful (but equally gorgeous) 380 hp V6S Coupe version of the F-type.
  • With its stunning GT proportions, beautifully flowing aluminum body, 8-speed ZF gearbox and a 5.0 liter V8 under the hood, Jaguar’s new F-type V8 S roadster has attracted widespread critical acclaim. Is it worthy? We recently climbed behind the wheel of the new cat to find out for ourselves.
  • Having seen the sumptuous collection of angles and curves that is the Lamborghini Huracán in person during its North American debut a few months back, I was just slightly pleased to learn I’d be driving the 610 hp specimen out of Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata this month.
  • Gizmag borrowed Cadillac's first extended range electric vehicle based off the Chevrolet Volt for a few days and found it to be a strange combination of underrated, but perhaps still overpriced.
  • Gizmag spends two weeks with one of the standout driver's cars of 2014 - Ford's 197-horsepower Fiesta ST. Turbocharged and lowered, the ST takes a no-nonsense approach to hard-driving hot hatch fun, and delivers a uniquely involving driving experience for a surprisingly affordable price tag.
  • Among the cars at last week's London Motorexpo were some curious looking bikes. Striking in design, the B4 Bikes e-cruizer was drawing nearly as much attention as the nearby McLaren. The e-cruizer is a new take of the electric bike from the Netherlands and Gizmag took one for a spin.
  • Having been available for just over a year now, Tesla’s Model S has received its fair share of acclaim, and its fair share of criticism. So what’s it like to drive this 416 hp all-electric, and how does it compare to other premium sedans? Gizmag went to Palo Alto to find out first hand.
  • Gizmag recently had the opportunity to experience McLaren's 616 hp 12C Spider for 48 hours in order to see how Formula 1 genetics play out in a production car. The verdict: brilliant.
