August 24, 2008 VUDU enables users with high-speed broadband to get instant access via their TV to video entertainment including 1080p HD movies and television shows. Now the company is offering a summer special, which will see customers rent one of 99 films for just US$0.99.
VUDU offers more than 1,000 television episodes and more than 6,000 movies from all major studios and over 50 independent distributors. Movies are delivered directly to its customers as they are released by the studios on DVD. Using the USD$299 VUDU box which plugs into your TV and broadband connection, consumers can watch without the need for a computer, software downloads, cable TV service or satellite subscription.
The summer offer means that customers can either view one of the editorial team’s selected 99 films for 99 cents, or renew any standard definition video rental also for just 99 cents within seven days of first viewing a film. The rental of high definition movies can be extended for $1.99. Costs for initial rental range from $3.99 for standard and $5.99 for HD.
