It also has a new aluminum-alloy body, that shaves over 500 lb (227 kg) off the weight of the current model
Powering the truck is a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that's exclusive to the F-150 line
Paired with a new 10-speed transmission, it reportedly produces more power at greater efficiency than the current Raptor's 6.2-liter V8
Larger, redesigned Fox racing shocks add more suspension travel
The Raptor's new Terrain Management System lets drivers optimize its driving dynamics for different surfaces (such as sand, snow and mud)
Other new features on this model include a dual exhaust system, 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, paddle shifters, LED lighting and an improved four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case
The new F-150 Raptor should be available starting in Fall 2016 (Northern Hemisphere), at a price that has yet to be announced

If you're one of those people who use pick-ups more for off-roading than for hauling, then you'll no doubt be interested in the upcoming newest version of Ford's F-150 Raptor. The automaker is billing it as "Ford's toughest, smartest, most capable truck for ultimate off-road performance."

Unveiled this week in Detroit at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, it features a new purpose-built high-strength steel frame, unique to the Raptor. It also has a new aluminum-alloy body, that shaves over 500 lb (227 kg) off the weight of the current model.

Powering the truck is a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that's exclusive to the F-150 line. Paired with a new 10-speed transmission, it reportedly produces more power at greater efficiency than the current Raptor's 6.2-liter V8 – exact figures haven't been provided.

Larger, redesigned Fox racing shocks add more suspension travel, plus the Raptor's new Terrain Management System lets drivers optimize its driving dynamics for different surfaces (such as sand, snow and mud).

Other new features on this model include a dual exhaust system, 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, paddle shifters, LED lighting and an improved four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case.

The new F-150 Raptor should be available starting in Fall 2016 (Northern Hemisphere), at a price that has yet to be announced.

Nice, but it's too big and too expensive for my needs/tastes. I'd rather Ford develop a successor to the Explorer Sport Trac.

It is super-nice, but I would hate to spend that money and then to still have to buy gas at the rate that these things guzzle it. Who wants to be how long cheap gas will last this time?
This aluminum truck chassis (very impressive btw) begs to have a Tesla drive train. How about this truck with a 400 mile range battery?
And imagine: Digitally universally variable all wheel drive! Slip and lock freely programmable for each wheel independently. No rear differential gear box hanging down waiting to hit rocks. Super slow mode included, at full torque. Hill climbs like nothing before, ever. Super silent hunting mode, always on. The perfect towing vehicle. Electrical outlets for more power than your average house are standard, even three phase for super heavy equipment. You can hook up and run your entire wood shop with this thing. Lots of stuff that one could imagine!
Elon Musk said he'd love to do a pickup truck. But he will be busy with his Model 3 for a long time. Ford! This is your chance! Talk to Tesla. Become a co-investor for the Gigafactory!

Another ICE I'm not impressed. Come on ford you can do a lot better than this piece of junk.
