October 28, 2008 Gateway’s new MC-Series notebook line signals its multimedia intentions known with a 16-inch edge-to-edge glass 1366x768 resolution widescreen display and illuminated multimedia touch controls. The new notebook line is available in two colors, burgundy, which features a brushed metal palm rest, and black, which instead features a synthetic leather palm rest. An ambient light sensor adjusts screen brightness according to the external light, while the LED illuminated keyboard is backlit for users burning the midnight oil.
The Gateway MC7801u comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800 (2.0Gz), 4GB of RAM and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. It also packs a 320GB HDD and a Multi-Format Dual Layer DVDRW with DVD-RAM and LabelFlash Technology. The high-end Gateway MC7803u model adds to the configuration of the MC7801u with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphics with 512MB dedicated memory combined with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor to knock up its gaming and video cred.
Both models also boast an HDMI v1.3 connection, 5-in-1 digital media manager, four USB 2.0 ports and integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam while connectivity specs include 802.11 a/g/Draft-N and Gigabit Ethernet. Both models come with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition with SP1.
The Gateway MC7801u comes in burgundy and has a MSRP of US$949.99, while the MC7803u is available in black at an MSRP of USD$999.99.
