Mazda will show a new compact crossover SUV concept car dubbed the Minagi at this year's 81e Salon International de l'Auto de Genève (Geneva Motor Show). The Minagi will utilize Mazda's SKYACTIV technologies – a general term the company is using for its "innovative next-generation technologies" – in its engine, transmission, body and chassis to achieve significant weight reduction.
SKYACTIV technologies will begin appearing in Mazda vehicles this year with the Mazda2 (Demio in Japan). This vehicle will be powered by the high-compression SKYACTIV-G direct injection gasoline engine, which claims 30 km per liter (approx. 71 mpg) fuel economy.
