The SLS AMG's opulent intrior uses high grade materials such as nappa leather, solid metal for the center console with optional genuine carbon-fiber facings. The wing-shaped dashboard gives the impression of width and the four air vents with their adjustable cruciform nozzles are designed to appear like aircraft engines. The long solid metal “Silver Shadow” center consul includes the main controls and the AMG Drive Unit, while the E-Select shift lever for the 7-speed sports transmission is designed to evoke the shape of jet engine thrust controls. Other notable interior features include electrically adjustable sports seats with integrated head restraints, an AMG Performance steering wheel in a three-spoke design with shift paddles and a metal insert, a Bang&Olufsen; sound system and no shortage of hand-stitched leather throughout.
For safety Mercedes have added three-point seat belts, belt tensioners, belt force limiters and eight airbags - two adaptive airbags, two separate windowbags that deploy from the door waistline, two kneebags, plus two sidebags integrated into the seats.
The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will be launched in Spring 2010.
