Tiny house builder Escape is trying something different with the Vista C. As its name suggests, the dwelling is part of the firm's Vista line, but is based around a shipping container. It comes with lots of optional extras, including a full off-grid package and a trailer for easy towing.

A few years ago, James Whitaker designed an office made from shipping containers. Though striking to look at, it was never built. Fast-forward to this year and a film producer saw the office online. Inspired, he decided to commission Whitaker to make him a solar-powered house based on its design.

The Intellectual Tiny Home is a 320 sq ft (29.7 sq m) one bedroom dwelling built from a 40 ft (12 m)-long recycled shipping container. It's being promoted for use as a full-time tiny house, guest house, or granny flat and will set you back US$62,000.

We've previously celebrated shipping container architecture for its utility, cost and sustainability, but rarely find cause to laud its looks. However, a group of vineyard buildings by Cumulus Studio shows that in the right hands, the humble container can look pretty damn good too.
