Detroit Auto Show 2019

  • The 2019 North American Auto International Auto Show is in full swing in Detroit, and while a little quieter than previous years that still means eye-catching concepts, hotly anticipated debuts and a mouthwatering taste of the future of automotive design. Here we take a look at the highlights.
  • Infiniti has debuted the QX Inspiration concept at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The SUV features a fully electric powertrain and introduces, Infiniti says, the new form language for an “electrified era.”
  • After teasing the idea of a big-sized, three-row Kia crossover-SUV for a couple of years, Kia finally unveiled the 2020 Telluride as a production model at the Detroit Auto Show. As the largest Kia to be produced to-date, the Telluride is a very American design inside and out.
  • After unveiling the new 2019 Ram 1500 half-ton truck at the Detroit show last year, Ram returned this year with the heavy duty versions of that truck, the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 models. Both include a Cummins diesel option with an unprecedented 1,000 foot pounds of torque.
  • Debuting at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the STI S209 is a new S-line performance model to be sold in limited numbers in the US in order to qualify as a racing machine in competition. The S209 embodies the aggressive performance of STI's new S-line.
  • With its unique interior layout, sitting three across up front and two each in the second and third rows, the Entranze EV is conceived as a road-trip-ready family vehicle that can be a daily driver as well.
  • Making a world debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show is the Nissan IMs EV concept, an electric sedan whose back seat has an uplifted “premier seat” in what Nissan calls a “2+1+2-seat” architecture. It’s the new “elevated sports sedan” segment envisioned by Nissan designers.
  • After a lot of teasing and hints, Toyota has finally unveiled the 2020 Supra sports car. The long-awaited A90, which debuted in camouflage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018, promised a new Supra to follow. The 2020 Supra builds on the legacy of Toyota’s only iconic race marque.
  • Volkswagen has unveiled an all-new 2020 Passat that features a new exterior look, a more powerful engine, and a lot of standard features – plus a new bumper-to-bumper warranty that VW says is the best in the US. The new 2020 Passat is aimed specifically at American buyers.
  • Though it has dabbled in hybrids and concepts before, a fully electric production car is yet to bear the celebrated Cadillac badge, but that is set to soon change with the reveal of a clean-burning crossover in Detroit.
  • In an unveiling in Detroit, Ford showcased the 2020 Explorer crossover SUV that is completely new from the ground up. Boasting new powertrains, a rear-wheel drive option, and more capability, the new Explorer further blurs the line between a traditional sport utility vehicle and a crossover.
