  • Utah's Vanderhall Motor Works expands its lineup with the new Carmel. The three-wheeled roadster adds a pair of doors and gains a lighter, more powerful engine, 19-in wheels and high-performance brakes.
  • The latest car in Toyota's series of kid's concept cars, the Camatte Journey is an open-air tourer ready to escape Tokyo and zip through sleepy countrysides and up twisty mountain roads. An accompanying digital simulator helps kids experience the thrill of auto touring.
  • ​Back in November 2017, a new generation of the Tesla Roadster was revealed. Now Musk has announced that a special option package for the 2020 Roadster will see the electric sportster packing small "rocket" thrusters, adding that "maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly ..."​
  • ​BMW has made the i8 hybrid supercar into a really, really cool i8 Roadster with a new design, more power, and a better battery. Launched at the LA Auto Show, the i8 Roadster and its new and improved i8 coupe companion get a couple of new color options and some copper upholstery.
  • ​​It's not a motorcycle. Not a car either. The auto-cycle rolls somewhere inbetween. Vanderhall's Laguna three-wheeler was released in 2016, and followed with the Venice Roadster. Both of those open-air two-seaters had gas engines running the show, but that's changed with the all electric Edison2.​​
  • ​At at Tesla launch event last night, a surprise popped out of its upcoming electric semi-truck as Elon Musk announced the resurrection of the car that started it all. The new Roadster is on track to zoom from 0-60 mph in under 2 seconds, have a top speed of 250+ mph and a range of 620 miles.​
  • A year after BMW ended production of the Z4, a new Z4 has made its debut. The striking Concept Z4 Roadster wears some of the creased bodywork previewed on the Concept 8 Series, creating an open two-seater that begs for furious, bluff-hugging twists high above smashing waves.

  • Sometimes the designers at Ferrari decide to go beyond the call of duty and release a limited edition destined for the garage of wealthy collectors. Based on the 488 GTB Spider, the J50 is the latest special edition to roll forth from the Ferrari stable.​
  • Weight loss was on the agenda for Mazda at SEMA 2015, with the Speedster and Spyder both shaving kilos from the MX-5 package, but the lightweight fascination didn't end there. SEMA 2016 will play host to a more stripped back, focused version of last year's Speedster alongside a charcoal MX-5 RF.

  • Hot on the heels of the AMG GT-R launched at Goodwood, Mercedes has pulled back the sheet on the GT Roadster. Don't be fooled by its soft top, this is no boulevard cruiser. Instead, AMG promises it will offer a driving experience to match the coupe, albeit with a lot more headroom.
