At first look, it may seems like the fifth-generation Xperia 5 has lost a rear camera, but the main shooter actually pulls double duty across two focal lengths. The compact smartphone also gets a chip update and improved battery performance.

Sony has opened the pre-order books for the Xperia 5 IV premium compact smartphone, a content-creation powerhouse that features a bunch of tech trickled down from the company's 2022 flagship, the Xperia 1 IV.

For its latest flagship handset, Sony is again focusing on content creation with a triple camera array around back that includes the world's first "true optical 85-125-mm zoom lens." Other highlights include immersive audio and enhanced gaming.

Smartphone cameras are capable of snapping some incredible photos, even if their image sensors can't match those of DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Now Sony is bridging the gap by cramming a 1-inch Exmor sensor into the upcoming Xperia Pro-I handset.

Sony announced some new hardware at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today. Gizmag managed to snatch a first look at the new Xperia X smartphone range, the Xperia Earpiece and three more concept devices covering home security, wearables and projection.

We've already seen Samsung's and HTC's high-end handsets for 2015, and now Sony has joined the party. The Xperia Z4 offers a small specs bump and a similar design to last year's Xperia Z3, as well as a front-facing camera designed to make your 'selfie' shots the best they can be.
