A common complaint with tiny houses is that they tend to offer only a cramped loft space to rest one's head. The Indigo tiny house by South Carolina's Driftwood Homes USA is far more generous, and offers a standard loft bedroom and a full-size ground floor bedroom that can double up as a home office. In doing so however, it makes significant sacrifices in living space.

Based on a double axle 24 ft (7.3 m) custom trailer and comprising a total floorspace of 280 sq ft (26 sq m) including loft, the Indigo has a pleasant looking exterior clad in stained cedar shake and vertical tongue and groove siding, and is topped by a metal roof. The interior layout is unlike most other tiny homes, though whether or not that's a good thing will largely depend on how much you value a large bedroom and home office.

On entering the home, a very snug combined living, dining and kitchen area is revealed. This small space consists of a couch that pulls out into a bed, a folding dining table, and a kitchenette. This includes a refrigerator, four-burner stove, and custom cabinetry.

As you can see above, it's a real squeeze and there isn't all that much storage space besides the kitchen cabinets either. It does look good however, with its stainless steel appliances and reclaimed barn wood finish.

A long hallway leads to a bathroom with tiled shower, sink, and plumbed-in toilet (the home requires a grid hookup for water and electricity), accessed via sliding reclaimed barn door. At the end of the hallway is another reclaimed barn door which leads to the ground floor master bedroom.

The master bedroom looks very large and light-filled for a tiny house. In addition, the bed installed is a Murphy-style, so it folds upward to reveal a desk, meaning it can be used as a home office too.

Aside from this bedroom, plus the sofa bed, a storage-style staircase leads to a secondary loft bedroom, so the Indigo could sleep up to six people. Though perhaps it's best suited as a vacation home for a family who isn't going to spend too much time indoors.

Heating and cooling for the home is provided by a Mini Split HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning unit), while hot water comes from a tankless water heater.

The Indigo is currently up for sale at US$74,500.

I think that is really nice. I would not mind living in that. I prefer a regular bed instead of in a loft where one could bump ones head.
